Travelers flying to cruise ports this week could face long waits and possible cancellations as the nation's airports increase security measures . Cruise industry experts are suggesting that all travelers, and especially cruisers who could be very inconvenienced by missing a ship's departure, should take extra precautions.
"If you are traveling within the next month or two, possibly discuss with your agent flying in the day before," said Peg Haskins, CEO of Viking Travel Service. "Right now there is so much uncertainty. Arriving at the port a day early may help alleviate a lot of unnecessary stress."
She also recommends taking a carry-on bag with a change of clothes and any necessities, especially for anyone changing planes.
"Be patient," she said. "Discuss your needs with your cruise expert and have a clear understanding of what's going on."
